  1. a person required to work for specific master; In return, they are entitled to protection, justice, and subsistence.
  2. a person under the guardianship of some they have obligations of servitude.


Settled hebodas are often required not only to work on their master's fields, but also in his mines and forests and to labor to maintain roads.

Nomadic heboda are often required to act as porters and/or security guards and to hunt or forage for food.
