Card Magic uses talismans to control the magical forces.

Card Magic talismans are made by Card Masters and used by Card Mages and Card Duelists. Stone tablets were once the most popular form for talismans. Now lacquered parchment or thin plastic cards are more dominant, which is why it is known as Card Magic. Here on out, talismans will be called 'Cards' as in the vernacular.

Card Mages can call on the powers of a Card directly, or through the use of a deck.

Card Duelist tap the powers of their decks using a Pái jiǎbǎn.

When activated Monster Cards can give an Ectoplasmic body to a spirit contained in the talisman, A process called summoning.

Sorceries Cards are Casted in bursts of one of more Cards, but once the series of rapid activations is done the user has to wait about a minute before he can safely activate more Sorceries, if used as a Shield Card and activated in that way the refractory period does not apply.

Interrupt Cards can be be activated at any time provided you have the required Mana.

Trigger Cards do not have an immediate effect when activated but wait until their trigger condition is satisfied.

When a Card is drawn it can be added to the Hand or set up as a Shield Card. Cards in a Hand can be activated by paying their associated Mana cost. Shield Cards are activated and their Mana cost paid by(not in addition to) Damage taken by the user. The attacker can choose which shield card to Break, but does not get any information about them other than their position.
