Remove everything from after the first consonant of the last syllable

then replace it with 'ai' pronounced /eɪ/ is the last syllable had a back vowel


or with it with 'ie', pronounced /aɪ/, if it was a front vowel unless the vowel was already /aɪ/ in which case it is pronounced /i:/
