I think taming Aequis should be like homosexuality in the 90s, specifically the USA in the 90s. Supported enough that no one dares overtly mistreats you because you have sex with an Aequis but unpopular enough that you stay in the closet about it. One can't legal marry an Aequis. Those that dislike it say it bestiality.

They don't call it immoral they call it bestiality in this place, but you can take any anti-gay speech and replace gay with taming and immoral with bestiality, and it would fit into the Aequis world
